Meira is a 46.9 square kilometer Lugo town hall located between the Eastern Sierras and A Terra Chá.
Meira and Seixosmil are the two parishes that make up our municipality. Con un censo de 1731 habitantes (en 2019), son dos parroquias llenas de patrimonio, naturaleza y gran riqueza etnográfica, donde siempre está presente la amabilidad de sus habitantes.

Meira a place full of Nature and Heritage
Meira is surrounded by nature with many places worth visiting, such as Pedregal de Irimia, where the Miño River is born.
The history of this municipality is linked to the Cistercian Monastery of Santa María de Meira, a National Monument since 1931. It was the Faculty of Philosophy for more than three centuries and is one of the best medieval examples of Cistercian art in Galicia and Spain. It belongs to the Route of European Cistercian Abbeys, and is the most important legacy left by the monastic community in the town, being a monument that you should not miss on your way through the town.
Meira is part of the Terras do Miño Biosphere Reserve, declared by UNESCO on November 8, 2002. The municipality stands out for its nature and unique landscapes. The source of the Miño river, the A Mexadoira waterfall or the river walk are some of these charming corners. From the Sierra de Meira we can contemplate a very wide panorama: Los Ancares, A Terra Chá or even A Mariña Lucense, without forgetting that at night it is an exceptional place for astronomical observation.
